Counter-Strike 1.6 Configuration Brief
Counter-Strike 1.6 Configuration Brief
As soon as you download Counter-Strike 1.6 client, you can immediately start playing on the servers. However, there will be times when it is difficult to hit the player, small lags, and inconveniences. Therefore, we advise you to first make a full adjustment configuration of your build of the CS 1.6 game.
The most basic points that we will consider today:
- Configuring Console Commands
- FPS
- Ping
- Mouse
Configuring Counter-Strike 1.6 – Configuring FPS
To begin you need to know what and most importantly for what we will change. A little theory:
FPS is the number of frames that you can “see” on your screen in a second. The larger the value, the more clearly you can observe the picture of the battle. Always, the standard and best value are 101 FPS. For public servers, this is quite enough. But you can’t just do that. Let’s see how much FPS at the moment your game shows, for this you need to go to the game, to any server and register in the console net_graph 3. Now on the lower right, we see the values, and most likely they fluctuate around 50-70, but not as much as 100, as a good player would like.
Therefore, go to the settings of our video card:
Video card “Radeon”: open the control panel and right-click on the desktop => properties => parameters => optional => 3D =openGL > => Special => Wait for vertical synchronization = > Completely turn off in any of its manifestations.
Video card “Nvidia”: here you need to find the item performance and quality, and there should be an item “vertical synchronization“, click on it and uncheck the box in “managed application” and move the wheel to the left.
We have almost coped and for the final effect of our actions, we will let CS 1.6 know that we need to show 100 FPS. To do this, click on the shortcut of the game Counter-Strike 1.6 – Properties, and on the way to our shortcut we add at the very end “-freq 100”
That’s all, now let’s go to the server and look in the right corner at what value CS 1.6 shows.
Counter-Strike Setup 1.6 – Ping Setup
Next on the list is to analyze what ping is. A ping is a time it takes for a packet of data to be sent from your computer to the server and travels back to you. The less ping, the greater the comfort of the game.
The easiest solution to lower the ping if you have a weak computer is to prioritize “Low“. To do this:
- 1) Go to the Task Manager in any way you know
- 2) Look for our game hl.exe in the processes and do as shown in the picture:
- 3 ) Take the 2nd paragraph of our article and study the little things related to them.
Configuring CS 1.6 – Configure Mouse
And so the mouse. Disable unnecessary mouse acceleration, which is always enabled when installing a game that interferes with targeting in the game itself:
- 1) On the desktop, select the shortcut with the game, right-click on it and select the “Properties” tab.
- 2) Then find “Object” and add at the very end “-nofocemparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd -32bpp” and click the “OK” button.
- 3) The final result should be something like this:
“C:\VALVE\Counter-Strike 1.6 MIX RUS\hl.exe” -game cstrike -nofocemparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd -32bpp.
Configuring Counter Strike 1.6 – Configuring Console Commands
Now about configuring console commands:
cl_updaterate (How quickly the information from the server will be updated) – The value of this command should always be “101“. If this is the case, then you will receive 101 updates from the server, which has a very positive effect on your shooting.
Attention! This team has a very serious impact on shooting.
rate (Speed of information transfer from the server to you) – The value is set approximately equal to “20000-25000“, as this is optimal for the HL engine on which our favorite runs CS Game 1.6.
