Anti Flood AMXX Plugin – CS 1.6 Chat Spam Protection
Last updated: October 1, 2026
Anti Flood is the AMX Mod X plugin that stops chat spam on cs 1.6 servers. When a player sends messages too fast, the antiflood amxx plugin warns them and blocks their chat for a few seconds. It covers both chat (say) and team chat (say_team) and works automatically – no admin commands needed.
The plugin comes with AMX Mod X (made by the AMXX Dev Team) and is enabled by default, so many servers already run it. Download it here if it is missing from your server, if you removed it, or if you want the .sma source.

Check if antiflood.amxx already runs on your server
Before installing, type this in the server console:
amx_plugins
If you see Anti Flood with the file antiflood.amxx and status running, the plugin is already active – just adjust amx_flood_time below. If it is missing, install it.
How the cs 1.6 anti flood works
- Each message starts a short timer set by
amx_flood_time - Writing again before the timer ends counts as flooding
- Every fast message adds 1 to a flood counter. When the counter reaches 3, the next fast message is blocked – other players do not see it
- The blocked player gets ** Stop flooding the server! ** in the console notification area
- The block lasts the flood time plus 3 seconds. Every fast message sent during the block starts it again
- Each message sent after the timer has run out lowers the counter by 1, so chat goes back to normal once the player slows down
amx_flood_time – anti flood setting
amx_flood_time sets how fast a player can chat, in seconds. The default is 0.75. It is in cstrike/addons/amxmodx/configs/amxx.cfg:
amx_flood_time 0.75
| Value | Effect |
|---|---|
0.5 |
More lenient – players can write faster |
0.75 |
Default |
1.0 or more |
Stricter – stops spam sooner, but can block fast normal conversation |
0 |
Turns the anti flood off |
To test a value without a restart, use amx_cvar amx_flood_time 1.0 in the console, then save the value in amxx.cfg so it stays after a restart.
Install antiflood amxx plugin
AMX Mod X must already be installed on the server.
- Extract
antiflood.zip. Inside isantiflood.sma - Compile it to
antiflood.amxxwith the compiler from AMX Mod X 1.9 or newer – the source usesMAX_PLAYERS, which older 1.8.2 compilers do not know and stop with an error. Dragantiflood.smaontocompile.exeincstrike/addons/amxmodx/scripting/(Windows), run./amxxpc antiflood.sma(Linux), or use the online sma to amxx compiler - Upload
antiflood.amxxtocstrike/addons/amxmodx/plugins/ - Add
antiflood.amxxon a new line incstrike/addons/amxmodx/configs/plugins.ini - Restart the server and check with
amx_pluginsthat it is running
antiflood.txt – the warning message
The warning text comes from cstrike/addons/amxmodx/data/lang/antiflood.txt, which is part of AMX Mod X and already includes many languages. Only if the file is missing, create it with at least the English line:
[en] STOP_FLOOD = Stop flooding the server!
You can change the text after = to any message you want.
Anti flood not working – what to check
- Players can still spam: check that
amx_flood_timeis above 0 and thatantiflood.amxxshows as running - No warning text, or a strange key appears in chat:
antiflood.txtis missing fromdata/lang/ - Normal players get blocked: lower
amx_flood_time, for example to 0.5 - Compile error “undefined symbol MAX_PLAYERS”: your compiler is too old. Use the AMX Mod X 1.9 or newer compiler
- Plugin loaded twice: make sure
antiflood.amxxis listed only once inplugins.ini
To silence one player completely instead of slowing chat for everyone, use the amx_gag plugin. More moderation tools are in the cs 1.6 admin commands list. Players without the game can get the CS 1.6 download here.
